A ministry known as the Awakening America Alliance is trying to get Christians focused on repentance and revival.
The Awakening America Alliance, or AAA, is making final preparations for a nationwide prayer gathering on September 11, 2008 — the seventh anniversary of the terror attacks. The ministry is spearheading an event on that day known as “Cry out America.” The event calls for all believers to gather at every county courthouse at noon. Christians will be asked to pray for their community, friends, family and the spiritual condition of the nation.
Billy Wilson, a spokesman with AAA, says Christians must get serious about prayer, repentance, and spiritual awakening. “Our hope for the day is it will be a moment of repentance for the church,” says Wilson, “a moment of public humility, and a moment of real unity and prayer, specifically for a new generation of Americans to really discover Christian faith all across the United States.”
Wilson is hopeful the event will encourage Christians in America to continue to pray for the nation and the church.
Tomorrow night (Saturday), White House hopefuls Barack Obama and John McCain will be fielding questions from evangelical mega-church pastor Rick Warren in a presidential forum at his California church.
