RICK WARREN STILL DOESN’T GET IT?

By Paul Proctor

July 30, 2008

NewsWithViews.com

OneNewsNow.com recently reported the following in an article by Jim Brown titled Interfaith “cooperation” at Saddleback.

California mega-church pastor Rick Warren says Christians should not be reticent to work with Mormons, Muslims, Buddhists, and even atheists to cure societal problems.
In conjunction with the presidential forum he is hosting next month at Saddleback Church, Pastor Rick Warren will convene an interfaith meeting for 30 Christian, Jewish and Muslim leaders “to discuss cooperation for the common good of all Americans.”

Now I don’t, for a minute, expect anyone outside the Body of Christ to appreciate the things of God, His sovereignty, His glory, His purpose, His Word or even the gospel. If you’re a social worker – even a Christian working as a volunteer within a charitable, yet secular organization, you are to be commended for your service to society.

But the church was not established by Jesus Christ to partner with other world religions and beliefs to share God’s glory with Allah, Joseph Smith, Buddha or Madeline Murray O’Hare. Neither were we called by Christ to bring their followers into the ministry with us. Those who have truly been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb ought to know better than this.

Study proposes revamping US security system

Filed under: Our Government at Work — totaldeliverance @ 10:11 am

By BARRY SCHWEID, AP Diplomatic Writer

WASHINGTON – In a report aimed at the next president, security specialists are proposing a vast overhaul of the U.S. security system, declaring it problem-plagued.

The report, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press, said frequent feuding and jurisdictional disputes among Cabinet secretaries and other agency heads force the president to spend too much time settling internal fights.

Time and money are wasted on duplicative and inefficient actions, slowing down government responses to crises, the report said.

The president and his top advisers focus on day-to-day crisis management rather than long-term planning, “allowing problems to escape presidential attention until they worsen and reach the crisis level,”said the report, to be issued later in the week.

The study, mandated by Congress, was undertaken by the Project on National Security Reform. The research was conducted by more than 300 national security experts from think tanks, universities, federal agencies, law firms and corporations.

A Church Full of Failures

A Church Full of Failures

By Jedd Medefind

failure hands in face

Discouraged by the “imperfect” within the Body of Christ? Consider
this perspective on those who fall from grace.

The conversation with our guests was as rich as the succulent kabobs and
summer fruit we shared. But like unsightly road kill along a scenic highway, the
discussion repeatedly came across accounts of dismal failure in the Church: a
pastor who’d stepped down because he couldn’t shake an addiction to pornography;
a vibrant evangelist whose life collapsed inward when the ministry overextended
itself financially; a respected mentor and his wife who’d recently decided
divorce was their only option…

I shook my head as my wife and I cleared the dishes, “It’d be enough to make
me lose my faith.” After all, wouldn’t the Bible’s talk of new creation and
transformed hearts lead us to expect better? Of course, there’s much in the
failure-riddled record of the Church that can appropriately be explained away.
Tares among wheat. False brothers. Fakers. The Church shouldn’t be judged by the
fact that many on its membership rolls simply are not committed to Christ.

But what about those who are committed—not perfectly, of course, but
as genuinely as we seek to be? What about the once-earnest brother or the
gracious sister who now leaves us shaking our heads over the dinner dishes? What
about the less shocking but still troubling pettiness, quarrels, and selfishness
we all too often find slithering among the pews? For that matter, what about
ourselves?

It’d be enough to make me lose my faith. That is, if it weren’t for the
people I meet in the Bible. Consider just a few of the “heroes.”

Pentecostal minister plays key role in Democrat election strategy.

DENVER – The request
befuddled Leah Daughtry. The experienced political hand in charge of
planning next month’s Democratic National Convention – a
self-described “black chick from Brooklyn” and ordained
Pentecostal minister who keeps a Bible in her purse – didn’t know
what to tell the atheists.

Daughtry, 44, was
preparing for an Aug. 24 interfaith service that will open the
Democrats’ gathering here – a first for a party that hasn’t always
gotten God. Before her was an angry letter from a secularist group
that wanted to know whether atheists would be on the podium.

DAILY DECISIONS and CHOICES

Filed under: Charles Stanley — totaldeliverance @ 1:27 am

Think about how many decisions a person makes in a day—choices about family, finances, work, etc.

In an ideal world, a decision would have a correct choice and an incorrect one.

As a result, it would be easy to make. In reality, however, what

seems right is not always what’s best.

Some things that are neither wrong nor sinful are still outside of God’s will. Scripture doesn’t contain specific

directives regarding every possible life scenario. Instead, the Bible is filled with principles.

At times, they’re explained through stories and often through direct teaching.

Believers have the capacity to grow in spiritual maturity. Biblical principles together with guidance from the

Holy Spirit become tools for making godly judgments. The question is not whether a certain choice looks

good or feels right. It’s whether or not a particular decision is God’s will for that point in a person’s life.

A well-developed spirit of discernment is essential for living in God’s will. Without this sensitivity to the Lord’s plan,

a man or woman will take everything at face value. Many choices that look good and feel right are actually

contrary to what God desires for a believer’s life. For that reason, we must evaluate situations from a biblical perspective.

God’s Continuing Faithfulness

God’s Continuing Faithfulness

READ | 1 Corinthians 1:4-9

God doesn’t lie. What the Father says He will do, He always accomplishes.

His many promises are recorded in the Bible. He keeps every one.

Yesterday, Dr. Stanley wrote about God’s faithfulness in directing him to become a
preacher and providing a college scholarship. After Dr. Stanley was enrolled in the
university, God continued to provide, perhaps not as much as Dr. Stanley wanted at

times, but always enough. Dr. Stanley remembers kneeling by his bed in the dorm

room. He told the Lord how little money he had, and asked for His help. In the mail

came a letter from a neighbor back home with a check that would cover Dr. Stanley’s
expenses! God supplied what Dr. Stanley needed, just as He promised.

Later, when Dr. Stanley was a seminary student, he was invited to preach at a local
church. That Sunday, when church was over, the leaders of the fellowship asked Dr.
Stanley to become their pastor. The church indicated a willingness to wait a year

until I graduated.

What a surprising turn of events. Dr. Stanley started to pray about it, confident the

Lord would answer because He had promised. Under the Spirit’s guidance, Dr.

Stanley said yes to their offer.

God’s faithfulness has continued throughout Dr. Stanley’s life. He could not have
imagined at the beginning that he’d preach for more than 50 years. But the Holy

Spirit has always been with Dr. Stanley, teaching him what to say each time he

prepared and delivered a sermon.

The God who leads us is ever faithful. That’s why you and I can confidently carry

out His plan, even when it surprises us.

Raising your potato the right way.

Filed under: Clean Humor — totaldeliverance @ 11:57 am

Well, Girl Potato and Boy Potato had eyes for each other, and finally they got married, and had a little sweet potato, which they called ‘Yam.’

Of course, they wanted the best for Yam.

When it was time, they told her about the facts of life.

They warned her about going out

and getting half-baked, so she wouldn’t get accidentally mashed, and get a bad name for herself like ‘Hot Potato,’ and end up with a bunch of Tater Tots

Yam said not to worry, no Spud would get her into the sack and make a rotten potato out of her!

But on the other hand she wouldn’t stay home and become a Couch Potato either.

She would get plenty of exercise so as not to be skinny like her Shoestring cousins.

When she went off to Europe, Mr and Mrs. Potato told Yam to watch out for the hard-boiled guys from Ireland .

And the greasy guys from France called the French Fries. And when she went out west, to watch out for the Indians so she wouldn’t get scalloped.

Yam said she would stay on the straight and narrow and wouldn’t associate with those high class Yukon Golds, or the ones from the other side of the tracks who advertise their trade on all the trucks that say, ‘Frito Lay.’

Mr. and Mrs. Potato sent Yam to Idaho P.U. (that’s Potato University ) so that when she graduated she’d really be in the Chips.

But in spite of all they did for her, one-day Yam came home and announced she was going to marry Tom Brokaw.

Tom Brokaw!

Mr. and Mrs. Potato were very upset.

They told Yam she couldn’t possibly marry Tom Brokaw because he’s just……

Are you ready for this?

Are you sure?

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine.” John 21:12a

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Is Satan whispering that God is not for you in your daily battles? Is he whispering lies that God is going to erase your name from the book of life for something you’ve done, yet repented over? Satan never had it so wrong! And Jesus never had it so right! Salvation in Christ is not a funeral, but a feast! The Bible is a continual feast from Genesis right through to Revelation. Covenant meals and meals of fellowship are frequent occurrences in Scripture. Our Shepherd, the Lord Jesus, has given many examples of His open invitation to be replenished and restored, to remember, and to rejoice at His table.

ACTION POINT:
Call your family together and celebrate the Lord’s Supper this week as a family…remembering the powerful promise of His resurrection, replenishment, and restoration.

July 17

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
The devil wants you to live your life from an empty cup. He wants you to think that God’s cup of grace has dried up for you. He wants you to be disenchanted with God. Most especially, he wants you to feel that God is a cosmic killjoy…that God is always thinking of ways to rob you of joy and peace. Satan knows that if you start to feel negatively about God, then he can have his way with you in other areas. Take courage. Be strong. Jesus has won the victory for you! Send those lies back to the pit where they came from and claim the promises of God.

ACTION POINT:
Wish someone the peace and joy of the Lord today.

EXCLUSIVE Interview & Testimony with Author Michael A. Minton.

This is certain to be an INCREDIBLE show you just cannot miss. So set your
alarms one and all and make sure you head over to Total-Deliverance
on Blog Talk Radio by 10:00 PM Saturday the 19th of July 2008. The
following is what I was sent on Mr. Michael Minton I know you will
find this incredibly interesting as I have. Make sure you grab his
book as well. It is most certainly a good read. Here is all that
info.

Thisfirst part was written to me by Mr. Minton (For those of you that do
not know my middle name is Douglas.)

(———–)

Doug,

What I will be discussing on your show Sat. has never been discussed in
public before. That is to say, not in my writing or broadcasting
ventures. This will be the first time I have gone live and given my
testimony. However, I can’t help feeling that it’s time. I’m
certainly no better than anyone else.

As far as what I like to stick to, I write a lot on current events, the unbelievably screwed up selection we have in candidates this year, many times we end up on
the ACLU’s butt. Basically, if it’s Conservative…it’s me.

I will send you a synopsis of the book in this letter, as well as a
brief biography. I hope you enjoy, and look forward to talking to you
Sat. Night.

PLEASE send me a reminder Fri. if you think of
it!

God Bless,
Mike
